Raising Aspirations - Career Assembly 7

Date: 25th Nov 2018 @ 8:55pm

Upper Key Stage 2 enjoyed a fantastic career assembly with our latest guest, Ms Turnbull. We heard all about the roles and responsibilities of a career in the Police force (including C.I.D., which we learnt stands for Criminal Investigations Division). Mrs Turnbull stressed the importance of literacy skills in her role where duties included: interviewing suspected criminals; taking statements; writing crime reports; dealing with paperwork; gathering prosecution evidence; giving evidence in court; fostering good relationships with the public; patrolling areas by foot and car; and making and processing arrests.  Ms Turnbull also explained how it was important to have a range of key skills to be successful in the role that included: resilience; assertiveness, good interpersonal skills and problem solving skills.

The children really enjoyed listening and learning more about a career in the Police. If you would like to volunteer your time to share a career experience with our upper Key Stage 2 children, please contact Mr Aspinall.
