Sporting, speaking and singing successes!

What an amazing week we have had a Willow Wood Community Primary School!

Our pupils have been out and about pursuing our enriching curriculum!

Lauri N. and Shane B. (Y5) represented Willow Wood at the WEP Pupil Forum, speaking at the Council Chambers to present our ideas to the Town Councillors and members from CW&C. This event was the result of the Winsford wide year long Democracy project, which all our pupils have been involved in, through voting on how they would like to improve where they live.

One of our governors, Cllr Margaret Dolphin, sent the following message.

“A very big thank you and well done to all the pupils involved in preparing today’s pitch to the Town Council.

The two pupils who gave the presentation spoke clearly and put  their ideas and suggestions across very well.

As ever when representing Willow Wood School they looked very smart and a credit to our school as do all our pupils.

As you are aware all the schools did a very good job of presenting their ideas and had all put a lot of thought into what they want to see in Winsford in the future.

I think they all chose well and gave us some well thought out ideas and how they would like to implement them.

Fingers crossed for the result, I will do my best to ensure success.

Thanks to the staff involved, again a job well done.”

On Thursday evening, I watched very proudly, along with parents and friends, as the Willow Wood choir took to the stage at the Lyceum Theatre in Crewe.

The 30 strong choir, were performing at the Cheshire schools ‘Celebration of Music’. We were treated to over two hours of musical talent, but they saved the best to last! Our non-audition choir was one of only three primary school choirs to take part, and they stole the show with their rendition of ‘Believe’. The whole audience was clapping, waving and singing along – it brought a lump to your throat!

The children were so nervous beforehand but were coached along beautifully by Mrs Hulse and Mrs Millar – well done – a great performance!

Thank you to all the staff who run our choir (Mrs Clarke and Mrs Hulse), through our weekly choir club, to Mrs Millar our Music Leader for sharing her expertise and to Mrs Capper for her support on the night.

Willow Wood pupils have participated in numerous sporting events this week to mark National School Sports Week. A huge well done to each and everyone of them for their fair play, sportsmanship, determination and smiles!

I am so pleased that we receive such positive feedback from other schools and members of the public about how smart our children look in their Willow Wood red team tops, their impeccable behaviour and sporting acievements - we have achieved first, second and third places this week!

Please see Sports Pages for photos and further news.

We are proud of you all!
