Sports Week

Date: 27th Jun 2017 @ 8:40am

This week is National School Sports Week and our children are off and about throughout Winsford and Northwich taking part in a variety of events:

Monday

Monday morning began with the 'Try-It Challenge for year 3 and 4 pupils. This event was held at our school and it was lovely to welcome children from lots of other Winsford Schools. We had a great time trying out a range of fun activities.

Monday afternoon- Tag Rugby:Girls year 4,5,6. This was a taster session for tag rugby, held at the Academy and overseen by the coach for ladies rugby from Northwich. Our girls were amazing!

Tuesday -Tri Golf

Unfortunately the morning event was cancelled due to the heavy rain so our Year 5 and 6 team didn't get to participate but our Year 3/4 team had a great time trying this event, which is new to school. Our Year 3/4 team came 4th-fab!

Dodgeball was held at High Street on Tuesday evening, again our children had an excellent time playing one of our favourite games.

Wednesday

Wednesday morning saw children take part in Total Sports, this is always a really great morning and this time children took part in Boccia, Adapted Athletics, seated volleyball, curling and a whole host of other sports earning loads of points for personal bests!

On Wednesday afternoon we entered the swimming gala for the first time. We entered a team of 6 children from year 4,5 and 6 who had to swim all three main swimming strokes in races as well as compete in the relay. We came fourth in this event too and a special well done to Mason who came first in his first race!

Thursday was a day of football, Year 3/4 in the morning and then two Year 5/6 teams in the afternoon. Both groups of children were amazing once again. Well done to Dan for two long distance goals and to all the players who took part.

Duathlon:- unfortunately this event has been cancelled due to the heavy rain which was a disappointment to our year 5/6 children.

Friday

Year 2 Multiskills

Pupils from Year 2 had a great morning at High Street school where they tried lots of personal best challenges

Year 3/4 Tag Rugby FEST

We really enjoyed learning from the 'experts' at tag rugby on Friday, lots of rugby coaches were helping us at the Megafest.

Well done to our dodgeballers who came 2nd in the VRSSP Final (eventually!)

Keep checking back on the blog as we add more information and photographs!
