Wellies, Inspectors and Joyful Singing!

Date: 12th Jul 2015 @ 9:06pm

I started the week in a damp forest with 120 infant children and their family members, as we walked around Kypersley Reservoir. We enjoyed listening to the rain dripping on the leaves, watching a squirrel spiral down a tree and the little robin flying from branch to branch as he tracked our route. The older children found the Warden’s Tower and Gawton’s Well and heard the story of the hermit.

The children were little rays of sunshine and didn’t complain about the weather once!

Whilst in the forest, school received the call from the OFSTED Lead Inspector informing us that we would be inspected for the next two days. With our belief in the importance and power of outdoor education I could have been in no better place!

The next two days flew by and the whole Willow Wood team was brilliant. This was our chance to shine and the Inspectors stated that it was a pleasure to spend two days in our school and we agree as we feel like that every day!

The week ended with a Music Celebration assembly. We were delighted to be entertained by our wonderful choir, band club and Key Stage One singing club. It was a joyful and uplifting end to the week and we all felt very proud of the children and Mrs Hulse, Mrs Clarke and Mrs Millar who lead music in our school.
