World of Work!

Date: 1st Feb 2015 @ 8:51pm

We welcomed the first visitors into school this week to talk to the children about their world of work.

School has made connections with volunteers through the ‘Inspiring the Future’ website, which aims to widen the horizons and aspirations of primary school children by helping them connect their learning with their future.

Firstly, Andy Manktelow talked to our Y5 pupils about his career in the RAF. The children learned about the range of roles that you can pursue in the RAF and were delighted to receive information booklets, key rings and pens. Most of the children have now decided to join the RAF!

Next, Rachel Stanley met with our Y2 and Y3 pupils to talk about her life as an electrical engineer. Rachel is very keen that children should consider a career as an engineer and our children were certainly inspired by her talk.

Please remember that we would encourage any of you to come into school and chat to classes about your work experience. Please let your child’s class teacher know or give the school office a ring if you would like to!

Next week we have a visitor from the Navy due to speak to our Key Stage 2 pupils.

It is also assessment week in school and I am hoping to hear lots of good news about the progress the children are making – I can certainly see the progress around school when I am in lessons, looking in the children’s work books and talking to pupils.

Your child’s progress will be shared with you during parent consultations next half term.
