Lilac Class 2019 - 2020

Mrs Capper

Summer term

We have had a great start to the summer term.

Our topic is 'Save the Planet' and alongside year 5 and 6 we will be finding out how use of Palm Oil is affecting the World's Rainforests.

We will be having a very busy term. As well as our topic work many of our class will be spending time at their High Schools as part of the transition activities. We have visitors to school to share some Rainforest creatures with us and to talk about Palm oil, what it is and why it's causing a problem.

We are enjoying the book 'Bog Baby at the moment. It's a lovely book about a very tiny magical creature who is cared for, but is living in the wrong habitat.

We are also making some books on the Ipad about Rainforests, where they are and the animals and plants that live there. Check back later in the term and have a look at the work we are enjoying producing.

Some dates for your diaries:

January

Scary things are happening!

We have been very busy since we returned after Christmas. We have met a few dinosaurs too!

Our whole school topic for this term is 'FOOTPRINTS' I wonder if you can guess what kind of footprints we have been looking at?

Thanks to Pete for bringing them along to class.

We also met a very large dinosaur in our school hall, that was very scary!

November update:

The children in Lilac have been having a great term so far. Check out our pages below and remember to click on 'latest updates' to keep up to date with school news and events.

We had a fab time at the Boccia Competition which was held at St Nicholas CHS on the 9th November, our teams were very successful, both teams getting through to the quarter finals and then our A team playing superbly in the semi-finals, but unfortunately beaten in the last game!

Several of our children also went to Condover hall in November, check out the photos in the galleries

Our whole school topic this Autumn term is;

We will be finding answers to questions and investigating all kinds of unusual things since our topic is STEM based (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths)

Year 6 are swimming this term, and PE kit should be in school at all times.

Residentials take place for years 3,5 and 6 during the year. Year 6 Elm, Cherry and Lilac pupils are off to Condover Hall in November.

Parents of year 6 children are reminded that choices for High School have to be submitted before 31st October. If you need any help with this please ask.

Parent 'Meet and Greet' sessions take place during the week of 17th September. You are welcome to attend sessions in Cherry, Mulberry or Elm if your child is in these classes, as well as Lilac. Times and dates to follow.

Parents and carers are welcome to join the children and staff in Lilac on Thursday 20th September for our welcome meeting, between 9 and 9:30 am.
