Nursery Seedlings 2017 - 2018

Welcome to Seedlings homepage!

We are very excited to welcome all our new children. We are sharing a building with the reception children this term and we have lots of new toys, games, books and puppets for you to use.

The Seedlings team this year is:

Mrs Leech - Class teacher

Mrs Ridgway - teaching assistant

Miss Pratt - welfare assistant

Our door is always open at the end of every session if you have any worries or concerns, please come to see us!

Woodlands Session

Every Wednesday afternoon and Friday morning the children will be going into our lovely woodland area. Please remember to bring a spare change of clothes, a coat and a pair of wellies.

PE Session

Every Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning the children will be doing P.E in the hall. We do not get changed for P.E, we will just be taking off shoes and socks.

Our Theme for the Autumn Term : Nursery rhymes and ‘All about Me’

In Nursery we will be:

  • Singing our favourite nursery rhymes

  • Making new friends

  • Moving in different ways during PE

  • Going on a listening walk

  • Sharing new stories

  • Role-playing in the home corner

Nursery Rhyme of the Week: ‘Ba Ba Black Sheep’

Story Time: We will have lost of fun exploring the book From Head to Toe by Eric Carle and have been learning it as a song. We will do lots of actions and move our bodies in different ways.

This week we will also look at the book Polar, Polar Bear what do you see? by Eric Carle

The children will begin Phase 1 phonics (singing, hearing sounds and recognising rhyming words) alongside the introduction of Phase 2 letter sounds. The children will learn new letter sounds through the Jolly Phonics programme where each letter sound has an action. We will be sending home the pictures of the actions each week. Please help your child to correctly sound out the letter sounds not the name eg: aaaa not AAA. Thank you

This term we will be concentrating on numbers and amounts to 10 and learning new shapes and colours each week. Please help your child by identifying numbers, colours and shapes in their environment, eg: by asking the children to find a green item, or looking for a certain number on front doors on the way to and from school.
