YR 1 ASH 2016 - 2017 2017 - 2018

Mrs Bott

Welcome to the Summer Term in Ash Class.  We have learnt so much already and we are looking forward to even more adventures in our last term in Year 1.

laughNow that the weather is warm and sunny, please remember to put on your suncream before you come to school, and bring a sun hat in!

Our story for the last half term will be Billy's Beetle and we will be linking this to our topic of Mini-beasts.  We will be finding out lots of information about creepy crawlies!

In maths we are continuing counting to and from 100 and really remembering our number bonds to 10 - you can help by counting with us at home!

Our phonics screening will be coming up in the early part of the term and whilst we are continuing to practice our segmenting and blending in our phonics sessions, please could we ask that you read with your child every day at home to strengthen their phonic understanding.

Our P.E sessions are on Wednesday afternoons when we have the amazing opportunity to try gymnastics.  Please could you ensure that your child has their full P.E kit (black shorts, white tee shirt and black pumps in a named bag) in school every week and that each item is clearly named.  If the weather is kind to us we will take our P.E. classes outside, so please ensure that your child has P.E pumps in their P.E kits.  We are lucky enough to be able to go into our fantastic Woodlands area every Tuesday afternoon, so all children will need a pair of wellies and a waterproof coat in school to be able to do this.

Our whole school topic is Willow Wood Works, where we will be looking at the world of work and thinking about the skills we need to achieve our goals.

The Ash Class team this year is:

Mrs Bott - Class teacher

Mrs Draper - Class teaching assistant

Mrs Lee - Class teaching assistant

Our door is always open at the end of every day if you have any worries or concerns!

Finally, please continue to support your child with their phonics and reading by reading with them at home every night.  Helping your child to understand what they are reading has an amazing impact on their learning and confidence and is a chance to spend special time with your child!
