YR 2 BIRCH 2016-2017 2017 - 2018

Miss Robinson

A huge thank you to all members of Birch class and their families. You've all worked so hard this year and we've thoroughly enjoyed teaching you. We hope you have a fantastic summer break. Stay safe.

All the best for year 3!

In September 2015, 193 world leaders agreed to 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development. If these Goals are completed, it would mean an end to extreme poverty, inequality and climate change by 2030.

Our governments have a plan to save our planet…it’s our job to make sure they stick to it.

The Global Goals are only going to work if we fight for them and you can’t fight for your rights if you don’t know what they are. We believe the Goals are only going to be completed if we can make them famous.

Reading! Reading! Reading!

Please bring your book bag everyday and listen to your child read at home each evening, then we will all become amazing independent readers!

2016 marks 100 years since the birth of Roald Dahl - the world’s number one storyteller.  Tuesday 13th September 2016 will see the biggest ever global celebration of Roald Dahl's birthday!  Look out for the letter with information about our whizz popping Roald Dahl week!

Welcome to Birch Class! We have so many exciting learning opportunities coming up and we are very excited to get started!

In maths we are going to be looking at counting on and back in 2s, 3s, 5s and 10s, place value and how to use the four operations. Remember to keep practising those times tables at home as the more we practice the better we get!

Our P.E days are Tuesday and Friday. Please make sure your child has full P.E kit (black shorts, black trousers for outdoor, white t-shirt, black pumps) in school every week.

We are currently enjoying some outdoor sessions where we will spend time in our lovely woodland area! We ask if your child can bring in a pair of wellies to keep in school as well as old clothes.

We have an open door policy so if you have any worries or concerns please pop in and see us!

Keep checking our page for photos of your child's learning journey as well as keeping an eye on our blog for lots of interesting chats!

Birch class have loved learning all about the famous artist Vincent Van Gogh. We have found out about his life and what inspired him to create some of his work. We explored some of the methods Van Gogh used in his painting and applied them to some of our own work. Together we have created huge sunflowers made from our hand prints which we have displayed in our classroom. They look fantastic. We also used paint and wax crayons to create our own work inspired by the image ‘Starry night’. We hope you get a chance to see them displayed in the key stage 1 corridors.

Birch class were so excited to start swimming lessons last week. We are already feeling more confident in the water and look forward to seeing the progress we’ll make by the end of term.
