Colomendy Capers!

One of the highlights of being a Headteacher is spending time with children when they are on residential visits. When you are away from the confines of school you really see a different side of children and appreciate them as a whole person.

I joined our Year 6 team in the beautiful surroundings of Colomendy in North Wales and watched the children taking part in bushcraft, archery and climbing.

On the climbing wall each child was encouraged to set personal goals, whether that was to reach the top of the structure or just take their feet off the ground. As ever the children were amazing, encouraging each other and striving hard to achieve their best. This was an opportunity to see all those skills such as determination and perseverance in action, which will help the children to achieve in the classroom and in life.

The children were also very excited to tell me about their adventures while caving and kayaking – which seemed to involve everybody falling in at least once!

After a delicious dinner it was great to watch our Y6 pupils playing chasing games in the twilight and then it was off for fun, singing and laughter around the campfire.

Thank you to Mr Shone, Mr Aspinall, Mrs Capper and Mrs McDermott for sharing this special time with our Y6 pupils. We know that the children will build on the skills they have learnt as well as smile when they remember the happy times they experienced at Colomendy.
