Creepy Crawlies in Year 1!
Date: 27th Apr 2018 @ 5:06pm
Year 1 had an amazing experience with their mini beast workshop today, where we had some very interesting visitors.
The children who were feeling brave got to hold Speedy and Slow Coach, the giant African land snails, and Sid, the Madagascar hissing cockroach. They felt the legs of Milly, a giant African millipede tickle their hands, and got to stroke the back of Incy Wincy, the Chilean rose tarantula.
Incy Wincy made a lovely hair piece for two lucky individuals. Wilfred, the royal python, made a beautiful scarf for two of our children, and two of our more adventurous children got to hold Sting, the flat rock scorpion!!!
We found out some interesting and bizarre facts about our guests.
Did you know...
...snail slime is used in cosmetics and moisturising creams?
...snails are both girls and boys all at the same time!
...milliepedes are called detritivores because they eat decaying plants.
