D Fest

Date: 25th Jun 2018 @ 1:45pm

I know that Ms Tomlinson has already created a blog about the D Fest event, but I'd like to add my own sincere thanks to my 'Three Lions' who turned up on a swelteringly hot Saturday lunchtime. Although only three in number,  Marcy, Lily and Kyle bravely took to the stage and performed the Benjamin Zephaniah poem, The British - see below.

The British (serves 60 million)

Take some Picts, Celts and Silures RARRRR
And let them settle, ARRRR
Then overrun them with Roman conquerors. OOOO
Remove the Romans after approximately 400 years UHHA
Add lots of Norman French to sommmmmmmmme
Angles, Saxons, Jutes and Vikings, then stir vigorously.

BLUBBLUB
Mix some hot Chileans, cool Jamaicans, Dominicans, OWWW
Trinidadians and Bajans with some Ethiopians, Chinese,
Vietnamese and Sudanese. BUUUBBLE
Then take a blend of Somalians, Sri Lankans, Nigerians
And Pakistanis, WHHHIIIIIZZZZZAAAA
Combine with some Guyanese
And turn up the heat. IIIII IIIIII IIIII
Sprinkle some fresh Indians, Malaysians, Bosnians,
Iraqis and Bangladeshis together with some
Afghans, Spanish, Turkish, Kurdish, Japanese
And Palestinians WWWWWOOOOOOOOOOWWWW
Then add to the melting pot. SHHHHHHHH
Leave the ingredients to simmer. SHHHHHHH
As they mix and blend allow their languages to flourish
Binding them together with English. RARRRRRRRRRR
Allow time to be cool. BLOWWWW

Add some unity, understanding, and respect for the future,
Serve with justice
And enjoy. WALK AND HIGH FIVES

Now, being fair to Mr. Zephaniah, the OOOOs and RARRRRs were added by us for performance reasons! We will be performimg the poem, as a Year 5 cohort, on two more occasions; one to celebrate Equality Diversity Day at Winsford Academy and the other to help to celebrate the opening of our Rainbow Building.

Thank you for reading.
