Handa's Surprise

This week we have started reading our new book for this half term: Handa's Surprise. We started by learning a little bit about Kenya, where the book is set. We also noticed that the fruits that Handa takes to her friend Akeyo in the story aren't like the fruits we eat here and we really wanted to try them. Thanks to Tesco in Northwich, who donated lots of fruit to us, we were able to try avocados, kiwi fruits, pineapple, mango, passionfruit, bananas, oranges and tangerines - just like Handa and Akeyo.

As we are learning about instructions at the moment, we followed instructions to create fruit salads using all of these delicious fruits. Most of us decided the mango or the pineapple was our favourite and lots of us thought the avocado was a bit slimey! Thanks again to Tesco in Northwich for your generous donation, we had such a fun morning trying all of that exotic fruit.
