A busy start
Date: 18th Sep 2015 @ 3:31pm
Well, we have been busy already! We are all settled in to year 4, and have got used to the new routines and classroom.
We were Roman soldiers on Monday this week in PE, there are photos to follow soon. We learnt some Latin commands, such as 'dexter', 'sinister', 'claudio', 'redi' and our favourite was 'equaliter ambula'! I wonder if anyone can remember what they all mean? We have also discovered how Rome was built, according to the legend of Romulus and Remus, and have been working hard at improving our writing this week as we have retold the story in our English lessons.
We really enjoyed finding out the parable of 'The Pharisee and the Tax Collector' in RE, and we all laughed as Mrs Millar pretended to be the Pharisee! The story made us think about how we should behave around other people too.
One of Mrs Millar's favourite things so far this term has been how we have learnt the poems by Spike Milligan. It reminds her of reading the poems when she was little. Each group has a different poem to practise, and we will be performing them within class next week. Maybe some of our performances will feature on the website?
Of course, we have been doing many other exciting things including: practising decimals and money in maths, swimming on Wednesdays, and reading many of Roald Dahl's books daily. We have even voted Caitlyn for our school councillor and Kelsey-Anne for our sports councillor; and taught Key Stage 1 children how to sing our 'Starting a New School Year' song!
We are really looking forward to more learning this term, and come into school with a big smile each day. Mrs Millar is feeling proud already.
