Little Comets!

Last week in Oak, as part of our 'Space' topic, we were lucky enought to have Wendy and Gemma from Daresbury Laboratory come in to school to talk to us about space. They brought their Earth and Sun with them and talked to us about orbits but were really impressed with what we already knew. Then they talked to us about comets and how they are really just a 'dirty snowball' that travels quickly through space. They told us that comets have two tails, a straight ion tail and a dust tail. Then, they let us have a go at making our own comets using craft materials. Once we had made the comets we flew them past the Sun, making sure the straight tails were facing away from it. We loved learning about and making comets, thanks Wendy and Gemma!
