Mulberry's Second Half Term so far...
Date: 20th Nov 2015 @ 4:10pm
We've now had three weeks back since half term, and we have been extremely busy.
Week 1
We started off the first week with a trip to Chester, and then recounted our activities from the day in our English lessons. We were telling the time in our maths lessons, converting between digital and analogue time. It is such a life skill, we should still be practising this all the time at home with our families. We also learnt how to use the app called 'Showbie' in our ICT lesson, and spent our topic time thinking about Remembrance Day. Kieran brought in some Roman artefacts that he had helped to find with a metal detector. We looked at them carefully with a magnifying glass to give us some more clues about Roman life.
Week 2
We have revisited our story of 'The Captive Celt' from before half term, but this time we have tried to write our own version, changing the ending or other parts of the story. In maths we moved on to practising our multiplication facts, in science we looked at what materials are good for conducting electricity, and we started our new dance theme in PE, making unusual comedy movements to 'One Step Beyond' by Madness.
Week 3
We started off the week with a very exciting project, making our lanterns for the Winsford Lantern Parade. We worked in pairs because it was quite fiddly, but they look amazing! Make sure you come to see them lighting up the streets of Winsford next Friday, 27th November from 3.45pm to see them in action. We had great fun in ICT investigating the 'Garage Band' app, and we will continue with this until the end of term to help us record our learning. In topic, we have been recording information about the gruesome Roman entertainment of gladiator fighting. Did you know that there are at least 8 different types of gladiators? Some fought animals (bestiarii), some fought with a trident and net (retiarii), and some even fought wearing a helmet with no eye-holes whilst riding a horse (andabatus)! We have even fitted in our very important work for Anti-Bullying week, producing some really careful pieces of work, and a trip to the library to practise performing some poetry.
We are now looking forward to the rest of this half term, and we will be putting up more information. We are always trying to improve our times table scores weekly - 12 of us managed it this week, and we are aiming to get 10 out of 10 on our spellings too. We are still swimming every Wednesday, and our new PE day is on a Friday, so please make sure your kits are in.
We hope you enjoy the photos of our learning.
