Raising Aspirations Assembly (Street lighting engineer)

We were delighted to welcome Ian Jones, a street/traffic lighting engineer, to our Raising Aspirations Assembly this week. The children learnt that Ian manages a team of 8, who provide and maintain the whole of Cheshire with street lights and control the traffic light systems around the county. Ian even used a model to show us how traffic systems work and how they help us keep safe.

Ian explained how he uses the following key skills in his role:

• Teamworking skills
• Numeracy and Literacy skills
• Good interpersonal skills
• Communication skills, including the ability to explain complex things simply
• An understanding of signals and electrical science
• Leadership skills
