Roald Dahl Week

This week it has been Roald Dahl week, we have had a fantastic week in Hazel class.

On Monday - We started to read James and the Giant Peach, we described Aunt Spiker and Aunt Sponge from the book, those nasty ladies! We even got to watch a performance of "Treasure Island".

On Tuesday - It was dress up day, look at the photos to see what characters we came as. We read some more of James and the Giant Peach and we started to predict what might happen next in the story. Some of us thought that the peach might grow so big that it floats away to another land, others thought that it would roll down the huge hill and take James with it. We even got to try a piece of a peach - it was yummy!

On Wednesday - We made a poster encouraging people to come and see the peach. We even completed word problems in maths involving Roald Dahl and information from his books.

On Thursday - We discussed the different characters we had met, the centipede, the spider and many more. We described them using interesting vocabulary.

On Friday - We watched a little bit of the film until the first adventure and looked at the characters some more.

This week has been magical!

Here are some of my favourite quotes from Roald Dahl, what are yours?

"If my books can help children become readers then I feel I have accomplished something impressive."

"Books shouldn't be daunting, they should be funny, exciting and wonderful."

"Books transported her into new worlds and introduced her to amazing people who had exciting lives"
