Visits & Visitors

Our Year 3 team returned from their residential visit to Beeston Outdoor Education Centre tired but smiling and with a pool of shared memories of living and learning together. I joined them for the Tuesday evening and it was great to see them using their independence skills as they ate their meal together and their cooperation skills as they played games in the evening. This residential is now becoming an established part of the curriculum which school offers to our children and the younger children in Y2 are already looking forward to their visit next year!
Congratulations to our netball team who went out to play in the Winsford mixed high-5 netball competition and came 2nd – only losing one match out of seven against the eventual winners. School received positive feedback both about how team members played and conducted themselves but also how smart they looked in their bright red kits. Well done!
As well as children going out of school we continue to welcome our, ‘World of Work’ visitors into school. Here is some feedback from a couple of them.
“From my perspective, it was a pleasure speaking to Years 5 and 6.
They asked some very astute questions, which demonstrated they were listening, engaged and interested. They were also very polite and welcoming.”
Sarah Jones (Independent Trainer)
“I thought the children I worked with were amazing. They were so polite and respectful. The staff had a great way with the children - very calm and respectful. The questions the pupils asked were really insightful. They were wonderful.”
Mick Clewes (Sports Journalist)
I also invited two Education Consultants to spend the day with us. They met with a group of our pupils and asked them to think of one word, which sums up their school for them. I was very proud to hear the children share the following words.
“Fabulous, wonderful, fascinating, understanding, proud, brilliant and fantastic”.
They were great ambassadors for Willow Wood and the Inspectors were very impressed with how highly they think of their school.
Keep up the good work everyone – we have another busy week in school next week as we celebrate World Book Day.
