A busy and interesting week!

What an amazing first week back – so much exciting learning was packed into four days for the children and five days for the staff. On the INSET Day, the teachers were learning, along with 120 colleagues from schools across Cheshire and Wirral, about developing children as amazing authors through the Primary Writing Project. We received lots of compliments from visiting teachers as they looked around our school as they thought that the learning environment was stunning and the work on the 'Washing Lines' really captured the great learning going on in school. We have been involved in this writing project for two years now and the children really seem to enjoy the,'Talk for Writing' approach as it gives them lots of ideas for their writing. Hopefully parents will notice that when they look in their children's books at the Parent Consultations in March.
I really enjoyed welcoming parents, carers, children and staff into the new build. Please see the newsletter for lots of photographs and comments that we have captured. The children are loving learning in the fabulous purpose built early years environment which has been designed to encourage them as curious, eager learners.
We also enjoyed some fabulous assemblies; Y5 and Y6 had an inspirational visitor who is a World Champion in line skating, 114 children received attendance rewards for attending school every day last half term and a whole array of book characters gathered together to partake in the World Book Day quiz and assembly led by Mr Shone. Please look at class pages and blogs for photographs. We also celebrated our Stars of the Week and announced team points gained this week.
Other highlights of the week included guest football coaches working to develop football skills, Y6 visiting the library and geography workshops based around, Pokemon Go - and all that in a week of heavy snow and icy blasts; I'm so pleased we could carry on with our exciting learning in our warm, happy school.
It's no wonder our pupils love our Willow Wood WOW curriculum!
