Mulberry's Spring Term
Date: 2nd Mar 2017 @ 5:09pm
We have been really busy already this week, as we look towards the rest of the Spring Term.
We started the week off with an assembly to introduce 'Fair trade Fortnight', where we think about the production of different items around the world. We had a 'Fair trade feed' in the hall where we ate pancakes with Fair trade toppings of bananas and chocolate sauce, then we made a cake using Fair trade sugar. We enjoyed eating that on Tuesday! (See the attached file for the recipe! We also thought about what makes things fair: Is our school fair? Are we fair to our friends? Are we being fair to ourselves? We also found out some information about Fair trade footballs, and the number of people it takes to create them.
On Wednesday, we have been swimming again, and we are making some good progress in the water. Some of us have been over the Half Term break to practise what we have learnt. We have also been thinking about creating our own poem based on 'The Tyger' by William Blake. We are creating one about a jaguar in the rainforest using rhyming couplets.
Today, we have put on a performance to parents playing our musical instruments. Some of us were brave and did solos, Mrs Millar played 'Hedwig's Theme' from Harry Potter to link to World Book Day, and everyone was amazing in their performances. We sounded really together, and the staff are really proud of our hard work.
Next week, we have got some real live animals coming into school to visit, and later on this term we will have a Samba drumming workshop. I'm not sure how we are going to fit everything in!
Keep up the good learning Mulberry!
