Golden Years and Wedding Celebrations!

Date: 14th Jun 2015 @ 11:54am

Did you know that the Willow Wood Schools opened in 1966?

This means that 2016 is our Golden Anniversary! We have formed a working party consisting of staff, governors, parents and pupils to think about how to celebrate 50 golden years of Willow Wood. If you know of any former pupils, staff or governors who would like to get involved please ask them to get in touch with School.

On Wednesday, I had the pleasure of attending the ‘Wharton Wedding of the Year’ at Wharton Church. It was a joyous and moving occasion as I watched the Y5 pupils, who all had roles ranging from Bride and Groom to Father of the Bride and Wedding Photographer, acting out their parts so seriously and responsibly.

Tim Hanson, Church Minister, conducted the service and explained the importance of each part as he went along. The Bride and Groom had written their own vows, which brought tears to our eyes, and the congregation sang, clapped and danced!

Well done to the Y5 pupils, who all looked amazing, and a big thank you to Miss Turnbull who organized the event as part of the R.E. curriculum (and for lending me a fascinator)!

Please enjoy the photographs taken by the photographer.
