Miss Honey's Storytime!

Date: 8th Mar 2015 @ 11:54am

The highlight of the week for me was World Book Day.

The day started with meeting and greeting parents and carers as they arrived with a host of fabulous storybook characters. Children were challenged to bring along an adult to share books with them for the first half an hour of the day – we were aiming to achieve Willow Wood’s biggest storytime! Have a look at the photos on Ash, Oak and Palm’s class pages to view the evidence.

Next I enjoyed sharing books with children in role as Miss Honey, from the book Matilda written by Roald Dahl. This was followed by a super visit to the library with our Y2 children. We are so fortunate to have this fabulous resource within walking distance and we received a warm welcome from Linda and Claire, the Librarians. The children loved browsing through the range of books and sharing their favourites with their friends. The children were all eager to borrow a book and Linda explained that children under age 8 years need to take along a parent or carer to help them, so we suggested that they visit the library with their grown-up on the way home from school.

The Y6 pupils are creating some wonderful eBooks about ‘The Golden Age of Islam’ on their iPads, so make sure your child shares their book with you when you come to Parent Consultations in a couple of weeks.

Thanks to everyone who joined in!
