Musical Mulberry!

Date: 13th Oct 2016 @ 9:07pm

We are so excited in Year 5 this week, because we are finally allowed to take our instruments home! We have had four weeks of lessons, trying out the different options as part of the Wider Opportunities programme, and now we have all got our very own instrument! Today, we have learnt our first three notes to practise, which might lead us to be able to play 'Hot Cross Buns' next week.

In our orchestra we have got: flutes, clarinets and saxophones from the woodwind section; trumpets, trombones, p-bones, baritones and tenor horns from the brass section; and some glockenspiels for added percussion. Have a search online for some examples of what the different instruments can do. Hopefully this will inspire you, so by the end of the year we can perform at our very best on stage at The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester with the Halle Orchestra!

In the meantime, we can start getting into 'performance mode', as we welcome Ms Halbrigg next Wednesday for our first rehearsal of the WEP choral repertoire. We are going to be performing at The Lifestyle Centre with other Winsford schools for our Christmas production on Monday 5th and Tuesday 6th December.

Mrs Millar is definitely looking forward to a musical year, hopefully we will make her, our families, and most of all ourselves proud. We might also find some new skills along the way, and who knows where it could lead us in the future?
