Raising aspirations- careers assembly 8

Date: 3rd Dec 2018 @ 4:05pm

Upper Key Stage 2 enjoyed a fantastic career assembly with our latest guest, Tom. We heard all about the roles and responsibilities of a career in hairdressing. Tom stressed the importance of creativity in his role where duties included:

  • cutting and styling
  • colouring, perming or straightening
  • keeping up to date with new trends, techniques and products

Tom also explained how it was important to have a range of key skills to be successful in the role that included: numeracy skills, communication, organisational skills and  good interpersonal skills. As other duties included:

  • making sure that hair products containing chemicals are used and stored correctly
  • keeping client records, making appointments and taking payments
  • ordering materials and promoting sales to customers

The children really enjoyed listening and learning about a career in hairdressing. If you would like to volunteer your time to share a career experience with our upper Key Stage 2 children, please contact Mr Aspinall.

A massive thanks to Tom for joining us at Willow Wood to share his experience and give us an insight into a career in hairdressing.
