The Lantern Parade

Last week, year 4 made lanterns for the Winsford lantern parade. They were lots of fun to make! We had to get sticks and tie them together so that it gave us the triangle shape, then we had to join the other sticks on to our base. We used PVA glue to paint on the special material, this allowed the paper to stick onto the sticks without using tape to make it secure. Then, after we had finish our lanterns, we were able to stick on shapes of sheep and stars, we used these shapes because our school was representing the Shepherds in the nativity story. Each school were given a part of the story to represent.

Then on Friday 28th November, we all took our lanterns to Winsford Cross and joined in on the parade down the street. It was a lovely night and all the children thoroughly enjoyed it, despite the weather! Lexi even gave a reading on the stage to the whole crowd; she read a part of the bible about the shepherds. Some children also stood next to her showing off our lanterns.

We would just like to say thank you to everyone that was involved in this parade and the making the lanterns.
