World Book Day!

World Book Day was great success. On Thursday 1st March, we all celebrated and appreciated the importance of the written word, by dressing up and spending time reading and discussing quality books. Some of the costumes were absolutely fantastic – Bill’s New Frock and a Christmas dragon spring to mind!

Reading is the most important developmental activity that children (or grown-ups) can do! So don’t forget to factor in some time to snuggle up with a good book!

Wharton Library

The way we interact with Wharton Library has changed a little now. We will be visiting the library once per half-term, as last year, but we will do it as individual classes so that pupils can concentrate more fully and so that the library staff can give us more of their focus. Additionally, we will be creating part in public debate about literature; we will be deciding on and voting on good story openings.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the staff of Wharton Library for their on-going support and enthusiasm. We are all part of the same community and our aim is simple:

Get kids reading!

Get kids learning!

Pokemon Programming Workshop

During the morning of World Book Day, we took part in a Pokemon workshop, during which we learned about how the area of Wharton has changed since the 1800s. It was very interesting and now we know a lot more about how and why people moved to Winsford over the years.
