Year 5 important news

I hope you are enjoying your half term.

Some important news events that are coming up for Year 5:

  1. Thursday 23rd February. Deadline for the BBC Radio 2 '500 Words' story-writing competition. We have been looking at some narrative writing this term, and children have been creating a story as part of their homework. It must be submitted through the website's format by 7pm on Thursday, with parental consent. The winning prize looks amazing. For more details for final ideas and how to submit your entry, look here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00rfvk1
  2. Monday 27th February. Launch of 'Fairtrade Fortnight', a whole-school event.
  3. Thursday 2nd March. 'World Book Day'. Another whole-school event, but come dressed as a book character.
  4. Thursday 2nd March at 2.30pm. Musical informal performance. The children invite their parents/family to an informal performance of what they have learnt so far in their instrumental lessons. It is to take place in the Rainbow Hall.
  5. Tuesday 7th March. Animals visiting school. Children will see a variety of unusual animals coming in to school as part of our Rainforest work. Please make sure that the letter reply slips have been returned, alongside the accompanying £2 cost of the visit.
  6. TBC, hopefully there will be a visiting samba drumming workshop before Easter. The dates are to be finalised.

Many thanks!
