Diversity Art Day

Lesson: Religious education

Mulberry class looked at some Islamic patterns to coincide with our work on Islam. In the morning we used shapes and tried to make our patterns tessellate which was quite difficult. Some of us used the 'Pattern blocks' and were proud of our designs.  In the morning, we also prepared our brightly-coloured backgrounds using 'brusho' inks.

During the afternoon, we painted our designs on to printing blocks, having traced the outlines carefully. This meant we were able to make an imprint on to the tile. The hardest part was making sure that there was the right amount of paint for the design to print accurately.

Our pictures are awaiting picture hooks, but we hope you like our patterns so far.
